Love it too.

My all time FAV is 7-2-71. It will not necessarily stand up to others for vocal performance, and perhaps the central jam is only AMAZING in my mind for very personal reasons, but to me it is the essence of how the silence between notes has GREAT meaning.

K Richards talked about this, and it was acknowledged in the DeBussy Bashing the other day here, but I hear exactly what he is talking about on this version.

Don't skip the PITB here in which Bobby mumbles a few lines ("bah bah bahhh bah bub bah...bah de bah...bubb de bub de bah bub...de bah bub..." or some such).

Ha--me too; bought it for my 17th bday, but it was actually the second bootleg album of theirs.

That's why I have such fond memories of the song...HS, girlfriends, etc., etc., etc.

stop that hippy dippy drippy bullshit talk tell...

... but isn't that partly what they mean when they talk about the great blues players saying more with less?

Hmmm, two edits, and still only a couple of sentence fragments left...wonder what I am missing.

Of course, I am not sure if hippy dippy applies to Bob's singing on PITB, which no doubt, qualifies, or to K Richards, who I have it on good authority, hated hippies...or maybe in was the Hell's Angels...damn, always get those two groups confused.

Yep, it was probably in the spirit of "less is more" that the "silence between notes" works (I have no musical ability and don't really know what it means, but it sounds good, eh? See how that space "works" for this sentence?).

Nothing to add other than to quote another:
“Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is THE BEST…”---Frank Zappa

Is that like the original octagonal negative or some such?
